Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engineer

About Us

ÆONIS SYSTEMS is looking for an NLP Engineer to develop and optimize language-based AI models for healthcare and education applications. This role focuses on building AI-powered documentation assistants, medical text analysis tools, and adaptive learning systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and text-based AI models.

Important Note: Until funding is secured, we ask for a commitment of 10-15 hours per month to ensure steady progress while respecting your time and contributions. This role is open to global applicants and can be remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • NLP Model Development: Design and train AI models for medical documentation automation, educational chatbots, and real-time language processing.

  • Text Data Processing: Develop preprocessing pipelines for handling large-scale structured and unstructured text data.

  • Language Model Fine-Tuning: Optimize transformer-based NLP models (e.g., BERT, GPT, T5) for specialized healthcare and education tasks.

  • Speech & Text Analytics: Implement speech-to-text and text-to-speech AI components to improve accessibility in healthcare and learning platforms.

  • Bias & Ethical AI Compliance: Ensure AI-driven language models minimize bias, promote inclusivity, and comply with data privacy regulations.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with AI researchers, linguists, and domain experts to improve NLP applications.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in NLP model development and deployment.

  • Academic & Technical Background: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Computational Linguistics, or related fields.

  • Machine Learning Knowledge: Experience with deep learning architectures for NLP (e.g., RNNs, LSTMs, transformers).

  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers..

  • Data Engineering: Strong knowledge of text preprocessing techniques, tokenization, and named entity recognition (NER)

  • Healthcare & Education AI: Bonus points for experience working with medical or academic datasets.

Work Model & Expectations

  • Commitment: 10-15 hours per month.

  • Work Type: Remote

  • Location: Open to global applicants.

  • Compensation: Currently voluntary; early contributors will be prioritized for paid roles once funding is secured
