About Us

ÆONIS SYSTEMS is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to design, maintain, and optimize data storage solutions for AI-powered healthcare and education applications. This role focuses on managing structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring data security, and optimizing database performance. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in database architecture, cloud-based storage, and data compliance standards.

Important Note: Until funding is secured, we ask for a commitment of 10-15 hours per month to ensure steady progress while respecting your time and contributions. This role is open to global applicants and can be remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Design & Optimization: Develop high-performance, scalable, and secure databases for AI-driven applications.

  • Data Storage Management: Handle structured (SQL) and unstructured (NoSQL) data efficiently.

  • Query Performance Tuning: Optimize database queries and indexing strategies for fast data retrieval.

  • Security & Compliance: Implement encryption, access controls, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).

  • Cloud Database Deployment: Manage cloud-hosted databases (AWS RDS, GCP BigQuery, Azure Cosmos DB, etc.).

  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop database backup, replication, and recovery strategies to ensure high availability.

  • AI Model Data Pipelines: Work with AI engineers to streamline data ingestion, processing, and retrieval for machine learning models.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with backend engineers, data scientists, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure and efficient data management.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in database administration, data engineering, or backend development.

  • Technical Background: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields preferred.

  • Database Expertise: Strong experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Firebase, DynamoDB).

  • Performance Tuning: Proficiency in query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and caching strategies.

  • Cloud & DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS/GCP/Azure database services, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of database encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).

Work Model & Expectations

  • Commitment: 10-15 hours per month.

  • Compensation: Currently voluntary; early contributors will be prioritized for paid roles once funding is secured
