Cybersecurity Engineer
About Us
ÆONIS SYSTEMS is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to ensure the security, privacy, and compliance of AI-driven healthcare and education applications. This role focuses on identifying vulnerabilities, securing cloud-based AI models, and implementing security best practices to protect sensitive data. The ideal candidate has expertise in threat detection, encryption, and compliance with industry security standards.
Important Note: Until funding is secured, we ask for a commitment of 10-15 hours per month to ensure steady progress while respecting your time and contributions. This role is open to global applicants and can be remote.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture: Design and implement secure infrastructures for AI and software applications.
Threat Detection & Mitigation: Monitor, analyze, and prevent cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and potential breaches.
Data Encryption & Protection: Ensure end-to-end encryption, secure key management, and data masking for AI-driven applications.
Access Control & Authentication: Implement OAuth, SAML, JWT authentication, and role-based access control (RBAC).
Cloud Security: Secure cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) by configuring firewalls, VPNs, and IAM policies.
Compliance & Regulatory Standards: Ensure HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, and other relevant security frameworks are followed.
Incident Response: Develop incident response plans and conduct security audits and penetration testing.
Collaboration: Work closely with AI engineers, DevOps, and compliance teams to enforce security best practices.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 3+ years in cybersecurity, cloud security, or IT security engineering.
Technical Background: Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related fields preferred.
Security Tools & Frameworks: Experience with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions.
Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and security testing.
Network & Cloud Security: Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, DDoS protection, and cloud security configurations.
Compliance Knowledge: Experience with HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP, or NIST cybersecurity frameworks.
Penetration Testing: Hands-on experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and ethical hacking is a plus.
Work Model & Expectations
Commitment: 10-15 hours per month.

Compensation: Currently voluntary; early contributors will be prioritized for paid roles once funding is secured
